Journey Begins

Well I am certainly excited to start this journey with everyone, the long grace-filled, and sometimes unpleasant trip back to our Christian origins, with hopefully a good drink in hand! Though my main topic for this blog is church history, I will tackle on 4 other topics: theology, craft beer, coffee, and my days as a outreach worker, ‘cuz it seems like no one really knows what I get myself into.

It is my desire and goal to get everyone to understand the importance of church history, to trace back where we came from, how we got here and possibly where we are going. I realize history is not the most popular subject to get into, so I will try my best to make this interesting. But I think what got me here was the constant unsatisfied feeling of not knowing why I believe in certain doctrines. I am told at church that we are the “bible-believing” church and that what is preached has been the same through the ages. But how do I know that? Why is there so many denominations and which one is the right one? Was Augustine right? Was Origin right? What about Wesley? Calvin? Arminius? (Oh, and non-denomination is a denomination) How can we be so divisive when we all carry the same book? In the search we can trust that though there are many differences we can trace back to individuals and events that have preserved our faith to this day.
Also I will randomly write about my adventures to find good beers and the perfect cup of coffee. I will travel to certain breweries and roasters, writing about what this rookie (me) would recommend. Lastly, I will share in my daily tasks as a outreach worker for the chronically homeless in the housing department, the struggles, adventures, victories, hard truths, false judgements and what really helps those in the viscous cycle on the streets.
As I am writing this, I am about to board a flight up north, so symbolically let’s take flight in the journey for truth. My hope would be that you would cherish the Holy Scriptures and the body of Christ, the catholic church, but most importantly that we would be in awe in our Lord and Savior who has cherished and nurtured His own body even in the chastisement of history
